One fourteen year old child among Those Who Answer Last Call.
BERTHA JANETTA SCOTT, 14 year old daughter of Mrs. Viola (Thompson) Scott, 955 Cottage Avenue, died at her home Saturday afternoon at 4 pm from complications following an attack of influenza some time ago. The little girl had been slightly crippled from birth but this affliction had never been a barrier to her activities in school or play. She had attended school but one half day this fall.
Bertha Janetta was born March 2, 1911 and was one of twins. Her parents at that time lived near Laketon. When a small child the family came to Wabash to make their home. Her father, Oren Scott, lives at Elkhart. One brother Gerald, and one sister, Mary, survive along with the parents of the girl. Both grandfathers of the child are living. Will Scott of Elkhart, and James (Mary) Thompson, of Roann. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2pm from the Weslyan Methodist church with Rev F.E. Cory officiating. Burial will be made at Fairview cemetery.
The child was of the friendly likeable sort and will be greatly missed by the children of the neighborhood of which she lived. She attended Sunday school every Sunday that it was possible and was, for an young aged, ever conscious of her religious responsibilities. Classmates in the Sunday School class will serve as pall bearers. They are; Thelma Braunetler, Bonitia Riggs, Ethel France, Bernette Dowler, Katherine Smither and Mary Rehak.
