Agnes Scott, 96, of Wabash, IN, formerly Mooseheart, IL passed away Sunday, March 9, 2003 in Wabash Skilled Care Center in Wabash, IN.
She was born March 13, 1906 in Lafayette, IN, the daughter of the late William J. Scott and Lucy English.
Agnes was recognized as the Distinguished Citizen of the Wabash Area Chamber of Commerce. She has been a member of the Wabash Presbyterian Church since 1921, where she served on many committees and was a member of the Women's Association. In 1973, she started Meals-On-Wheels in Wabash and served as the Executive Secretary until 1993. She was a graduate of Wabash High School and attended Indiana University. She graduated from Western Illinois State Teacher's College and obtained her Masters Degree from the University of Michigan in 1941. Before returning to Indiana, she taught school at Macomb, Gridley, and at Mooseheart in Illinois. She returned to Wabash County in 1950, teaching at Marion High School until her retirement in 1968. She received the Master Teacher award from Taylor University in 1961.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at 2 PM in the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, IN with Rev. John Ritchie officiating. Burial will take place in the Murphy Cemetery in Wabash. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
