Jesse Eugene Scott, 82. Alexandria, died Jan. 23, 2010 at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 27, 1927 in Alexandria to Hanley W. and Marie (Hover) Scott. He lived in Alexandria all of his lifetime.
Eugene served with the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Guide-Lamp, formerly of Anderson in 1991 after 41 years of employment.
He was a member of the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene and UAW-Local 663. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, antique car shows and was an avid builder of plastic replica models. He was a fan of the Pacers and the Colts. Eugene was a gentle spirit who cared for and nurtured his family.
He is survived by sons, Jim (Nancy) Scott, Orlando, Fla.; Don (Rebecca) Scott, Burlington; Bruce Scott, Alexandria; daughter, Mary Jo (John) Henderson, Frankton; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Don (Shirley) Lemon, Anderson; Bob (Betty) Lemon, Oklahoma City; sisters-in-law, Linda (Ron) Lawson and Marilyn Lemon all of Alexandria; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Eileen (Lemon) Scott in 2002 and brother-in-law, Gene Lemon.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Jan. 27, 2010 at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St. in Alexandria. Rev. Mark Diemer, Alexandria Church of the Nazarene, will officiate. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children or the Alexandria Care Center Resident's Activity Fund through the funeral home.
