She died Tuesday evening, Aug. 14, at the Golden Rule Nursing Home, Danville. Born Feb. 20, 1891 at Montclair, Indiana, she was the daughter of James Ivan and Nancy (Pritchett) Scott. Her husband, Bert Poer, preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1965. She was a charter member of the Hendricks County Chorus, a member of the Mill Creek Home Economics Club and the Lizton Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, James R. Poer of Danville and Donald Poer of Virginia; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

from her biography on page 483 of the 1976 Hendricks County history:

Georgie Scott was born on February 20, 1891 on a farm between Lizton and Montclair. Her father, James I. Scott, was born on May 2, 1845 on a farm two miles east of North Salem in a log cabin built by his parents, Isom and Mary Scott. Georgie's mother was Nancy May (Pritchett) Scott, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Pritchett who lived north of Montclair.

Georgie and her sisters, Pearl and Ruth, attended school in a small schoolhouse built on the corner of their farm.

On November 20, 1909, Georgie Scott married Bert Poer (b. 1887) in Danville with Peter Storm, justice of the peace, conducting the ceremony. They resided on a farm west of Montclair, then moved to Pittsboro where they continued to live for two and one half years. During that time, they were employed at the Indiana Girls School where Bert worked as a farmer and Georgie as a garden officer. They also assisted as supply officers and often helped in the hospital.

The Poers lived on various farms - at Fillmore, the Sam Poer farm west of Danville, the Jonathan Lowe farm southwest of Danville and finally purchasing a farm two and one half miles west of Danville where Georgie has continued to live since the death of her husband, Bert, in 1965. They had observed their 50th wedding anniversary in November, 1959.

Georgie and Bert Poer were the parents of two sons - James R. Poer (b. September 23, 1916) and Donald Poer (b. September 10, 1918).
