EARL JAMES SCOTT, beloved husband of the late Arline Smith Scott, passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on September 14, 2009 at the age of 89 years. He was born on June 18, 1920 in Castor, Alberta, the son of Elmer Roy Scott and Mary Martha Jones Scott.
Earl is survived by his children; Earl Dexter (Brenda)Scott of Minot, North Dakota, Kim Warren (Tetyana)Scott of Calgary, Jolayne (Terry) Potter of Austin, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren brother, Cecil Edison (Etta) of Kelowna, BC.
He was predeceased by his wife, Arline; infant son, Baird Roy; grandson, Nigel (Seth Warren) Scott; brother, Frank Leonard and Lawrence Roy.
At a young age, Earl served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in WW II - 3 years as a Prisoner of War. After the war, he build Smith & Scott Ford dealership (Now CSL in Cardston) and operated that business for 16 years. He then worked 19 years with the Cardston Municipal Hospital - 16 years as CEO including the period of expansion until his retirement in 1986.
He service to the community of Cardston is remarkable. He was involved as a youth sports coach, 10 years as president of the Cardston Agricultural Society, 9 years as Rodeo Chairman, parade marshal, chairman of the handicapped society, on the original committee to conceive and build the Remington Carriage Museum, life- long Rotarian, member of the Lion's Club and Canadian Legion.
The Funeral Service will be held in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, TEMPLE STREET CHAPEL, Cardston on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Jim Redford officiating. Interment in the Cardston Cemetery, Cardston, AB.
