John Thomas Scott was my great grandfather, through lineage of his first wife, Margaret Fitzgerald. They were married in Mississippi, where John served in Co. D, 1st Regt, Mississippi Infantry .

In 1861 the first child born to John T. Scott & Margaret Fitzgerald in DeSoto County, Mississippi, was named John Andrew Scott, -- my grandfather. After Margaret's death, John came to Arkansas with three of his children, leaving his baby, Addie Scott, to be raised by a Moody Family in Monroe County, AR..

John Thomas then married Sarilda Priscilla Marsh, & of this union, a number of children were born. They also named their last child, John Andrew Scott, which has complicated matters for many family history researchers.

I have a copy of John T. Scott's Application for Pension, which clearly states he served in CSA in Mississippi; but.., Co D, 1st Regt, ARK INF is inscribed on his grave marker which is in error. That was inscribed about 100 years ago, so will it ever be corrected? Probably not...John Thomas Scott is interred in Henderson Cemetery, Pangburn, White County, AR.

Other errors I see on his memorial are:

1) His father, James Angelus Scott (died in Pangburn, AR) NO! (He lived in Mississippi)
2) John Andrew Scott, born in December, 1861, (died in White County, AR). NO! (He died in Clark County, Arkansas & buried in Easley Cemetery)

The John Andrew Scott born to Sarilda Marsh & John T. Scott is the one buried in Henderson cemetery...... I think this is what confuses some people.
