Grace Cathren (Feehan) Scieszinski

Grace Cathren Scieszinski, 84, of Melrose, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Funeral services were 10 a.m., Monday, May 31, 2004, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose, Rev. William Walter C.P.P.S. officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia.

She was born Jan. 23, 1920 in Lovilia to John P. and Caroline Conway Feehan. She married Tom Scieszinski Dec. 31, 1941 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. Grace attended Lovilia grade school then graduated from Albia High School in 1938. She then went on to attend the Ottumwa Heights College. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Oldsmobile Garage in Albia for three years, and handled the accounts payable at the Russell Sale Barn for many years. She was also a homemaker and a mother. She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society in Melrose.

She is survived by her husband of Melrose; one son, Dr. John J. Scieszinski and wife Hon. Annette J. of Albia; one daughter, Phyllis Kearney and husband David R. of Byron, Ill.; six grandchildren, Lauren M. Bennett and husband Mitchell, Susan C., Brooke A., and Caroline R. Scieszinski, William T. and Kerri Lyn Kearney; one great-granddaughter, Emily Marie Bennett; and one sister, Sister Mary Delores Feehan of Johnston. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Louis and Walter Feehan.
Casket bearers were Gene Scieszinski, Larry Scieszinski, Joe Scieszinski, Jim Feehan, Paul McGrath and Harold Conway.

Memorials may be made to Albia City Park Playground Equipment. Winfield Funeral Home in Albia was in charge of arrangements.
