Mrs. Scieszinski passed peacefully Friday, August 10, 2007, at the home of her son in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Anne Josephine Sulentic was born July 25, 1916, in Golden Goose, Iowa, the daughter of Milan and Ika Sulentic, Croatian immigrants who mined and farmed the land. She was proud of her Croatian heritage and was a charter member of the Croatian Crest Club, Moline. She was an independent soul who loved life, loved to dance, and lived every day to the fullest. She loved God and the goodness He has given, but questioned convention. She had a warm heart for the less fortunate. She married James Scieszinski in 1949 and spent forty years in Davenport as a homemaker as well as a bookkeeper and cashier at Sudlow Jr. High School. In 1988 she returned to her hometown of Albia. She loved her children, who will miss her forever, and who dearly loved her. She had many friends. She is survived by her sons, Dan, of Pleasant Hill, and Dick, of Des Moines; a daughter, Deb (Bill) Phillips, Nashville, Tenn.; a dear sister, Aunt Kate Paveglio; sisters-in-law, Donna (Ray) Benson, Betty (Ed) Conway, and Mary (Tom) Sulentic; and a brother-in-law, Jack (Blanche) Scieszinski. She was preceded in death by infant twin children, Tom and Julie in 1954 and husband, Jim in 1979, brothers, Tony and Tommy Sulentic; sister, Mary White; sisters-in-law, Rita Sulentic, Blanche Scieszinski and Shirley Scieszinski, brothers-in-law, George White, Ray Benson, Eddy Conway, and Don Paveglio.
