Daughter of Jacob and Dorothea Louisa (Mann)Schwalbe.
Married Gottlieb B. Henne 04 Jan 1885 Klostitz,Bessarabia,Russia.
***************************

Rosina Schwalbe was born January 26, 1866, in Klostitz, South Russia. She was orphaned at an early age, and was raised by an older brother and sister-in-law. Her brother and his family were agricultural farmers. She married Gottlieb Henne on January 4, 1885. In 1898, Rosina, Gottlieb and their six children came to New York. They then traveled to Eureka, South Dakota. They bought a wagon, a team of horses, a cow and a stove. With these meager supplies and equipment, they traveled north with no particular destination in mind. They finally arrived in the Martin, North Dakota area and homesteaded in Section 5 of Berlin Township in Sheridan County. In 1908, they built a home on the farm. It had to be big enough as they had added five more children. In 1909, they built a barn. Gottlieb and Rosina continued to farm until Gottlieb became ill and died in 1925. Two of their sons continued farming the land while Rosina moved in to a house in Martin. At the time of her death at the age of 72 on February 19th, 1938, Rosina was living with her daughter and son-in-law Martha and Edwin Bender.
