Fredericka was born May 10, 1822. She was born in Hollenbeck, Herzogtum Lauenburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Prussia, Germany. Her father was Frederick Lueck and the name of her mother is unknown. In 1846 Fredericka married Ludwig Louis Schultz. According to the “Schultz Family History”, Ludwig & Fredericka walked to Berlin to buy their wedding clothes. When Ludwig decided to immigrate to the United States around 1857, Fredericka stayed in Germany with their children August, Wilhelmine and Herman. One can only assume that only Ludwig went to the United States because of not having enough money for the whole family to immigrate at one time. Almost three years later Ludwig had Fredericka and their children come to the United States. When Fredericka and the children arrived in New York City, they still had to travel to Minonk, Illinois. Once settled to farming life, Ludwig & Fredericka had three more children, Nettie, Otto & William. By 1864 the Schultz family was living in Elkhorn Township, Webster County, Iowa. Ludwig purchased a homestead and continued farming. And they had their last child, Anna, born in Iowa. After Ludwig passed away in 1880, Fredericka, William & Minnie Schultz (daughter of Jacob Brown and Wilhelmine Schultz) stayed on the farm. William continued farming the land until his death.
