Clarence Ocie Schofield, 72, Topeka, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at a Topeka hospice house. He had cancer.
Mr. Schofield was a self-employed carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1947 to 1950 and in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1953.
He was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Dugginsville, Mo., the son of Ocie and Elender McGowne Schofield. He had lived in Tampa, Fla., before moving to Topeka 35 years ago.
Mr. Schofield was an avid fisherman and traveler.
He married Ada Blanch Schofield on July 26, 1977. She died Jan. 13, 1995.
Survivors include four daughters, Carol Schofield, Ellen Noreen Miranda, Nina Marcia Lawell and Jamie Lynn Schofield, all of Oregon; two sons, Ronnie Schofield, address unavailable, and Dwight Schofield, Oregon; a sister, Willow Hopkins, Cupertino, Calif.; and a brother, Fred Welch, Houston.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Newcomer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
