Irene D. Bogert (88) of Kennewick was called to Angel Orientation Class on August 14th, 2016. She was the mother of 4 and second mother to many, loving grandmother of 5 and great grandmother of 4, favorite aunt, good friend, gracious host and woman of faith.

Irene was born on October 11th, 1927 in Granger, Washington to Catherine and Conrad Schoessler who had a farm along Van Belle Road. She had two brothers, Roy and Norman, that have gone on before her. Irene married Walt Bogert, together they successfully farmed in the Sunnyside area for many years where they had 4 children: David, Richard, Steve and Cathy. Sadly, David died very young.

The whole family was active in the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. In 1977 they left Sunnyside and moved to Kennewick where they became realtors. Walt and Irene teamed up and worked for Century 21 for more than 25 years. They also found homes in need of TLC, which Walt would repair. These homes either were resold or became rental properties. Even after Walt’s passing in 2006 she continued to manage the rental properties.

Irene was a gracious hostess to friends and family for the 4th of July and the Hydroplane Races. She also enjoyed hosting small groups from church. Through the years at Kennewick First Presbyterian Church she was involved with Stephen Ministries, small groups and numerous potluck events. She found fellowship and volunteering important. She always looked forward to visiting with several friends while helping in the church office with bulletins and newsletters.

Irene is survived by children: Richard and Suzan Bogert, Steve Bogert and Bonnie Sprague, Cathy Bogert-Hunt and Jim Hunt; grandchildren: Robin Bogert-Fischer and Jason Fischer, Holley Sowards and Darrell Sowards, Nick Schmeck and Cristen Denney, Nick Bogert, Jenny Bogert; great grandchildren: Tyson Schmeck, Aiden Schmeck, Brody Sowards and Brinley Sowards.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, October 8th, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Kennewick First Presbyterian Church, 2001 W. Kennewick Ave., Kennewick, WA. Einan’s at Sunset, Richland is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene’s name to Kennewick First Presbyterian building fund.
