She died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. She was born Jan. 3, 1947, in Freeport, Ill., the daughter of LaVerne A. and Virginia (Williams) Schoenhard.
She grew up in Scales Mound, and graduated from Scales Mound High School in 1965. She then attended and graduated from Western Illinois University and graduated in 1969 and where she later received her master's degree. She received the State of Iowa recognition for her dedication and work with elementary mathematics. She had been employed for the past 34 1/2 years by the Davenport Community School District as an elementary teacher at Wilson Elementary School, Davenport. She was going to retire in May.

Survivors include her mother, Virginia Laity, Scales Mound; a sister-in-law, Ann Schoenhard, Freeport, Ill.; a niece, Angie Schoenhard, Oak Park, Ill.; a nephew, Adam Schoenhard, Oak Park; a stepsister, Fern Moyer, Galena, Ill.; a stepbrother, Jim Laity, Scales Mound; two uncles, Alan and Gordon Williams, both of Scales Mound; and an aunt, Joyce Schoenhard, Scales Mound.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1962; a brother, Rick Schoenhard on Nov. 9, 1980; and her stepfather, Earl Laity on Feb. 9, 1984.
