At the time of Ben's birth, his birthplace of Lutsk was in Russia which is now Ukraine. In past centuries the town has also been part of Poland depending on the political factions.
Naomi (his Mother) along with children Anne, Ben, Sam, and Ada came to the United States through Ellis Island in roughly 1905.
Brothers Ben, Sam, and Paul Schneider operated the successful Schneider Brothers Millinery Hat Company for over 70 years in St. Louis, MO.
On April 4, 1954, United Hebrew Temple, St. Louis, MO, hosted a testimonial dinner in honor of Rabbi Samuel Thurman's 40th Anniversary as a Rabbi. In attendance were Ben Schneider the then President of the Congregation along with Keynote Speaker the Honorable Harry S. Truman. Truman and Thurman were old friends. As part of the Congregation's thanks for former President Truman's appearance, Ben presented Mrs. Truman with several hats from the Schneider Brothers Millinery Hat Company. Attached is a photo of that special occasion. Ben is on the far left in the newspaper photo.
