From the February 3, 1937 issue of the Illinoian Star newspaper, Beardstown, Illinois: Mrs. Clara Treadway Schmoldt, life long resident of Beardstown and wife of Adolph E. Schmoldt, local lumber dealer, died in her home at 500 East Third street at 9:05 last night. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the late home. The Rev. T. J. M. Crapp, pastor of the Methodist Chruch of which the decedent was a member, will be in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in the City cemetery. Friends have been requested not to send flowers. The body was taken to Cline funeral home to be prepared for burial. Mrs. Schmoldt, daughter of James Treadway and Mary Rebecca Rawlings-Treadway, was born, married and died in the home at 500 East Third. Her parents and three brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Surviving are the husband, Adolph E. Schmoldt and one son, Ernest james, 1117 Lafayette St. In January of 1897, Mrs. Schmoldt suffered an incapacitating injury in a fall, breaking both her knee caps. She was later able to walk with the use of a cane. On September 25, 1935 she again fell, breaking both hips and her shoulder. She was a patient in Schmitt Memorial hospital for five months and then returned home but was unable to walk again.
