DALLAS CITY, Ill. - Arlene Cale, 85, of Dallas City, Ill., and formerly of Montrose, died at 6:25 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, in the Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.
She was born on April 20, 1920, in Charles City, the daughter of Frank Sr. and Minnie Burgdorf Schmoldt.
She married Kenneth Cale on Dec. 31, 1938 in Davenport, Iowa. He survives.
Additional survivors include: two daughters, Marlene Underwood and her husband, Galen, of Cedar Rapids, and Judy Taylor and her husband, Michael, of Plevna, Mo.; a son, Terry Cale and his wife, Andrea, of Dallas City; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and three stepsisters, Rosie Coppage of Fort Madison, Mabel Sapp of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Helen Linkenfelter of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren; two brothers, a stepsister; a step- brother; and a half-brother.
Her favorite color was red. The family asks that people wear red to the service and visitation in her honor.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Hofbauer-Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home, Donnellson.
Burial will be in the Montrose Cemetery.
Visitation is after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Donnellson, with the family meeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A memorial has been established.
