Mrs. Asay died at the age of 63 in her residence Dec. 25 of unknown cause, pending further tests by the Multnomah County medical examiner. She had been ill for some time. She was born in Portland on Feb. 26, 1927, and had lived in Portland most of her lifetime. Her maiden name was Schmiedeskamp and she was divorced.
From 1975 to 1990 she was an accounts-payable clerk for Fred Meyer. Mrs. Asay was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
Surviving are sons, Garry and William of Portland and Mark Asay of Beaverton; daughter, Kathy Nipeth, Milwaukie; and a brother, Ed Schmiedeskamp.
