Marhjorie May Cafferty,daughter of Fred and Ina Schmidt, was born Feb. 21, 1924, at Bartley and passed away on March 14, 2009, at her home in Chester at the age of 85 years and 23 days.

She attended school and graduated from high school in Indianola.

She was united in marriage to Clay Cafferty on July 25, 1943, at the chapel of Carlsbad on the army air force base at Carlsbad, N. M.

Marjorie and Clay worked in western Nebraska where they both grew up. In 1958, they moved to Chester where Clay leased a local grain elevator with Marjorie working there also. Also at this time Clay and Marjorie were active with the 1,000 acres they owned north of Indianola. She took great pride in her life as a farmer. In the late 1960's Marjorie opened up a ceramic shop in downtown Chester. This was an extreme joy to her and art classes from the school would take part in this. Marjorie loved to cook and baking was a passion for her. Marjorie was very active in her church and community and a big joy in her life was her grandchildren. She is a member of the United Methodist Church of Chester.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ina Schmidt; husband, Clay Cafferty; sister, Laverna; brothers, Cliff and Griff.

She is survived by son, Dru C. (Catherine) Cafferty of Highland Village, Texas; grandchildren, Allyson and Brittany; sister, Ruth Palensky of Oakes, N. D., other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held March 20 at the United Methodist Church, Chester with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating.

Graveside services were held March 20 at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Indianola.
