Suzanne Schmidt Braden passed away on November 2, 2014, in Houston, Texas.

She was born in Shamrock, Texas on September 6, 1931, the daughter of Mary Stutz and Harvey Wilbur Schmidt.

She grew up in Amarillo, Texas, graduating from Amarillo Senior High School in 1950, and attended the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.She moved to Houston, Texas in 1955 and worked for many years as a residential real estate broker. She was a member of the Junior League of Houston, one of the Blanket Ladies at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, and an active member as a Golden Arrow of the Houston Pi Beta Phi alumnae.

She was predeceased by her parents and by her brother Charles Harvey Schmidt and his wife Mary Winsett Schmidt.
She is survived by her son Stewart Spurgeon Braden and his wife Adrienne Webb Braden; by her daughter Olive Braden Smith and Link Smith; by her granddaughter Suzanne Smith Martin and husband Trey; by her grandson Link Calhoun Smith and wife Alison; by four great grandchildren, Madison Smith, Reese Benning Smith, Blake Martin, and Cooper Martin; by her brother Rufus Von Schmidt and his wife Kay Bundy Schmidt; by her nephews Carl Bundy Schmidt, Joe Harvey Schmidt and wife Kelli, C. Robert Schmidt and wife Jenny; by her niece Ewing Schmidt McCulloch and husband Mark; by numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews; and by numerous dear friends whom she loved and who loved her.The family would like to thank Theresa Cerna, Tri Bateman, Elizabeth Mcelvain, and the personnel of Brookdale Place Tanglewood for their loving care.

A memorial service is to be conducted at 10:30 AM o'clock on the 19th of November, in the Chapel at St. Martin's Episcopal Church at 717 Sage Road at Woodway, Houston TX. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent Bagby Parish Hall.Prior to the service the family will have gathered for a private inurnment at the Garden of the Holy Cross at St. Martin's Episcopal Church.
