Agnes Baker, age 97 of Osakis died on Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis where she had been a resident for several years.
Agnes Frances Schlosser was born on April 6, 1910 in Belle River Township, Douglas County, MN to John and Mary (Hoffman) Schlosser. She was married to Anton M. Baker on October 10, 1933 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River. They lived in Osakis and Aggie did waitress work at the local restaurants. After St. Agnes School opened in the early '60's, Agnes went to work as a cook for the school. She was an excellent cook and worked there for many years until her retirement. She then volunteered her time at the Community Memorial Home. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception parish in Osakis and belonged to the Christian Mothers. Aggie was a devout Catholic who regularly attended Mass and practiced her faith. Saying the rosary and other devotions were a part of her daily routine.
Besides working out in her garden, Aggie enjoyed going bowling, playing cards and reading.
Aggie is survived by her daughter, Donna Harmeling of Sauk Centre and a granddaughter, Peggy Ruegemer, also of Sauk Centre and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tony in 1998, a son-in-law, Al Harmeling, six brothers, John (Jack) Jr., Nicholas, Albert, Andrew, Simon and Luke Schlosser, four sisters, Elizabeth Trisco, Anna Jerome, Marie Linderfelzer and Katherine Becker.
A Mass of Resurrection was held on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis with Fr. Ralph Zimmerman officiating. Crossbearer was Kathy Berg. Musicians were the church organ choir. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Christian Mothers. Active pallbearerers were Charles Schlosser, Dick and Deloris Koch, Robert Friederichs, Aven and Ronald Berg. Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery in Osakiis.
