Mrs. Magnus Bast, 81, of 814 Cleveland Ave., Manitowoc, wife of Dr. M.L. Bast,
died Friday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where she had been
confined 26 days.
A brother, William Schilling, died Thursday evening at Northfield, Minn.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bast will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral
Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. D.L.
Krembs will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The former Mary Jeanette Schilling was born April 6, 1878, at Hutchinson, Minn.,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Schilling. She was married there
Oct. 9, 1901, to Dr. Bast and the couple came to Manitowoc. Mrs. Bast was a
member of the Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Church.
She is survived by the husband, a daughter, Mr. J.J. McCully of Manitowoc, four
sons, Leonard E. of Memphis, Tenn., John R. and Evarist W. of Manitowoc and
Eugene M. of Two Rivers; two brothers, Oliver and Walter of St. Paul, Minn.;
three sisters, Mrs. Frank Reiner of Northfield, Minn., and Mrs. R.M. Stubbs and
Mrs. Grace Andres of St. Paul, 10 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday where the Rosary will
be recited at 7 p.m.
