Mike Schenck, 82, of Shelby, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at Wendover. Mike was born in Cleveland County on April 5, 1933 to the late John Franklin Schenck, Jr. and Evelyn Pyle Schenck. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, John Franklin Schenck, III and Newlin Pyle Schenck. Mike was a 1951 graduate of Shelby High School and later attended Lenoir Rhyne College and Duke University. Mike was a lifelong and faithful member of Central United Methodist Church in Shelby. Mike started his career in the family business, Lily Mills, Co. where he was Plant Engineer for 22 years. In 1979, he obtained his contractor license and started his own business, Electrical Enterprises, Inc. Mike did electrical wiring and repair work for 15 years until he retired in 1994. Not long after Mike signed on as a volunteer at Cleveland Regional Medical Center where he spent the next 7 years engaging his passion for service and helping people. This was one of the greatest joys of his later years and he accumulated over 8,000 hours of volunteer service at CRMC. In 2004, Mike was named Volunteer of the Year.

Mike is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joanne Gaston Schenck and their three children, Michael, Jr. and wife Carol Laney Schenck, Ann Beam and husband David, and Catherine Miller and husband Mike. "Daddy Mike" will be dearly missed by his 6 grandchildren, Mary Catherine Oliver and husband Ethan, Victoria Beam, Evelyn Laney Schenck, Michael Schenck III (Tripp), Jonathon Yesovitch and Michael Miller.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Central United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the Fellowship Hall.
