Gladys S. Corey, 86, died May 17, 2008 at VNA Hospice House. She was born in Dutchess County, NY and lived in Vero Beach for 12 years, coming from Coral Gables.

She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA and was a graduate of the Parsons School of Art and Design in New York City.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Christine C. Feist of Vero Beach; two sons, Douglas A. Corey of Boulder, CO and John B. Corey of Miami; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bryce Corey, in 2004.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Church, 1901 23rd St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

SERVICES: A memorial service will be conducted at a later date at the Community Church, Vero Beach.

Gladys Schenck Corey, 86, passed away May 17th at The VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL. She was born January 23rd 1922, to Harold Douglas and Margaret Napoleon Schenck in Dutchess County, NY.

She attended Mary Washington College and graduated from Parsons School of Art and Design, New York City, in 1942.

She pursued a career in the publishing industry prior to her marriage to James Bryce Corey, on September 2nd 1949.

During their marriage Gladys and Jim travelled extensively and developed friendships around the world. They hosted numerous international students and sponsored an extended family of Vietnamese refugees.

Gladys was involved with the Republican Party in Dutchess County and with the League of Women Voters in Dade County, FL.

Gladys will be remembered for the design of hundreds of needlepoint canvases which she proudly executed and shared with friends and family.

Gladys was predeceased by her husband of 55 years in 2004.

She is survived by her daughter Christine Corey Feist (Joseph), son Douglas Albert Corey (Joanne), son John Bryce Corey (Nancy), grandchildren J. Corey (Jennifer) and K. Cameron Feist, Megan Whitlock (Jedd), Carolyn, Michael, Christopher, Brian and Eric Corey. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Ethan, William, Elizabeth and Charlotte and her precious dog, Missy.

A service will be held at a later date.
