Full name: Lillie Gertrude (Schenck) Mooney|Alexander. Gertrude's parents were Albert Howard Schenck and Florence Gertrude (Shackelford) Schenck. She had three brothers Henry Emil Schenck, Warren Howard Schenck, & Eugene Lewis "Gene" Schenck, one sister Eleanor Adelia Schenck, and a half-brother William Arthur Heaton, Jr. Gene was her only full-sibling who lived to adulthood. She first married Walter Sims Mooney on 16 Dec 1918 at Calvary Methodist Church, Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. Their only child was my mother Gertrude Ruth (Mooney) Drew. Her second husband was John A. Alexander and they married on 01 Jul 1927 in Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL.

She was a homemaker and an active member of the Ladies' Auxiliary at Rock Springs Presbyterian Church and lived in the same Morningside neighborhood at 1733 Pelham Road and 636 Rockmont Drive in Atlanta.

Gertrude was very interested in her family's genealogy and was the one who got the rest of us interested in genealogy. She proved one of her 3rd great-grandfathers, Martin Dial, who fought in the American Revolution in order to join DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). She would be ecstatic today to see the progress that her two granddaughters have made in proving the lineage of many of her ancestors in order to be members of not only DAR, but Jamestowne Society, First Families of Georgia, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, United States Daughters of 1812, and UDC (United Daughters of the Confederacy).

In her later years, she moved to Columbus, Muscogee Co., GA to live closer to her daughter. She was simply "The Best" grandmother.
