Nellie Horst was born Nellie L Schell, daughter of William R and Mary Alice (Weaver) Schell of Halifax, PA. She married (in about 1897-98) Nelson Troutman (see 1910 Census - Pottsville Ward 7, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania; Roll: T624_1418; Page: 9B; Enumeration District: 0073) and they had a son, Robert in about 1908. They apparently divorced sometime between 1910 and 1920, because Nelson is living with his mother in 1920 (Millersburg, Dauphin, Pennsylvania; Roll: T625_1559; Page: 12B; Enumeration District: 126), and Nellie is living with David Horst (Reading Ward 4, Berks, Pennsylvania; Roll: T625_1536; Page: 1A; Enumeration District: 64), along with her son Robert Troutman, her Mother Alice M Schell, her sister Florence W Schell, and a man (border) named Louis F Biddle (unsure if he is related to any of them). Many of Nellie's Schell relatives are also buried in the Halifax UMC Cemetery.
