Lorretta's obituary reads as follows: Mrs. Loretta C. Klaus, the wife of Harry E. Klaus died at 8:10 Thursday evening at Carlinville Area hospital. She was 80 years of age. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at Davis Memorial home and burial was in Prairie Lawn cemetery. The Rev. Vincent Heraty, pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic church officiated at the rites. With Mrs. George C. Reid as organist, Mr. Reid was the vocalist. Mrs. Klaus was born November 3, 1900, a daughter of William and Margaret Darscheid Schaefer. She and Mr. Klaus were married January 3, 1923 at St. Joseph's church in Carlinville where she was a member. Besides her husband, she leaves four daughters, Mrs. Morrell (Melba) Eichen of Raymond, Mrs. Russell (Norma) Kaegy and Miss Margaret (Peggy) Klaus, both of Carlinville and Mrs. James (Beverly) Holler of Platteville, Wisconsin; two sons, Robert of Carlinville and Loren E. of Metropolis; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. Regina Thomas of Chicago and Mrs. Florence Firehammer of St. Louis; and one brother, W.J. Schaefer of Carlinville, as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters. Serving as pallbearers for the funeral services were Lynn Eichen, David Klaus, Rick Helpingstine, Ron McClatchey, Ron Schaefer and Martin Schwab.
