Services for Geoff C. Schaaf, 30, of Fargo, N.D., formerly of Fairmont, Minn., will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in Fairmont.

Geoff died Tuesday, February 1, 2005, in Fargo as the result of an accident at work.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2005, at Atonement Lutheran Church in Fargo, N.D.

Geoffrey Charles Schaaf was born September 29, 1974, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Charles and Claudia (Lang) Schaaf. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Vianney Church. Geoff attended St. John Vianney School and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1993. Geoff attended Moorhead State University in Moorhead. He married Karen Moeller on October 26, 1996, in Clinton, Minn.

Geoff was happiest when he was spending his time with his daughter Emilie. His passion for music and foreign car mechanics were the driving forces in his spiritual life and in his daily life. While in high school Geoff was the trumpeter for military funerals. Geoff celebrated his gift of music by performing with many bands in the Fargo-Moorhead area. He was an active member of the contemporary music groups at Atonement Lutheran Church. His talent was also shared by teaching guitar through private lessons. Geoff volunteered in the community by working on the Crisis hotline.

Geoff is survived by his daughter, Emilie Rose Schaaf of Fargo, N.D.; mother, Claudia Schaaf of Fairmont, Minn.; father, Charles Schaaf of Eau Claire, Wis.; his sister and best friend, Jennifer Schaaf of Minnetonka, Minn.; grandparents, Sylvester and Millie Lang of Truman, Minn.; and his longtime friend, Allison Miller; aunts and uncles, Alan Lang, Dan Lang, Cheryl Culbertson, Jim Lang, Steve Lang, Jerry Lang, Michelle Moore, Michael Lang and Kathleen Candell. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death are his twin sisters, Tiffany and Natasha Schaaf; grandparents, Doug and Jean Schaaf; great-grandparents, Melrin and Inga Spidahl and Paul and Marie Lang.
