PLATTSBURGH — Geraldine A. Scarlett, 75, of Military Turnpike, Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Bayfield, Wis., Sept. 16, 1933, the daughter of Edwin and Nell (Hebert) Erickson.
Geraldine was an active member of the Peru Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 309. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed crocheting. The obit photo was lovingly carried in her husband's wallet for 42 years.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Wallace Elwood Scarlett, whom she married Nov. 23, 1966, in Hickory, N.C.; her children, Christine Lydick, Tammy and husband, Carl Stahl, Lee Scheunemann, Edwin (Scheunemann) and wife, Sharon Nugent, Leonard "Dean" Scheunemann; two brothers, James and Len Erickson; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; close friend of 35 years, Judith LeFave; close friend and traveling companion, Marilyn Sawyer; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Beverly (Scheunemann) Laver; granddaughter, Shanna Scheunemann; sister, Debbie; and brother, Richard.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 16, 2009, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan D. Shnob officiating.
Donations in her memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.
