Ignace Carl Saxon, 72, Nespelem, passed away on his birthday, Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee. "Quick" as he was known by his many friends, was born to Lovina "Beans" Michael and Ignace Saxon on July 18, 1938.
He was a member of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe, the Catholic Church and a devoted member of the Nez Perce Long House Seven Drum Religion, Nespelem. He attended De Smet Indian Boarding School and Worley High School.
He retired 2001 from BIA Forestry, Nespelem, where he worked for 27 years. He also worked for Potlatch Plywood Mill, St. Maries, Idaho.
On September 24, 1966, he married Darlene June Davis, at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She survives him at the home. They made Nespelem their home for the past 40 years.
He is also survived by brothers, Larry (Pat) Saxon of Worley; Sam (Edna) Alexander and Casey Smith of Plummer; sisters: Jeannie (Deb) Louie, Ronnie Smith, both of Worley and Beanie Alexander of Plummer. Uncle Mitch Michael Jr., aunt Virginia Matt, both of Plummer and aunt Gerri (Kenny) Sherwood of Plummer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents: Mitch and Mary Michael, brother: Jackson, Alexander and Jumbo Smith and a son Warren Andrews; mother-in-law Agnes A. Davis, who was a mentor.
In addition, he played a major part in the lives of the following children: Shelly D., Jewie, Anthony, Di, Tubby, Amanda, Angela, Anessa, Tah-wy-ah, Willie, Kiona, Kyle and countless other nieces and nephews.
Dressing services were held Monday, Precht-Harrison-Nearants Chapel, Omak. Rosary/Wake were held Monday evening at the Nez Perce Long House. Burial services was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Nez Perce Long House. Burial followed at Chief Joseph Cemetery.
