IRENE SAWYER JOHNSON was born to Chalmers and Donie Sawyer on March 6, 1917 in Munford, TN. She went to be with her Lord on August 28, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gilbert "Bob" Johnson and her son, Robert Cavett Johnson. She is survived by one sister, Fanny Sawyer Holt, and one brother, W. Tom Sawyer, three children, Harold E. Johnson of Oklahoma City; OK; Don M. Johnson of Lake Kiowa, TX; Vicki Johnson Ralph of Memphis, TN; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Irene and Bob were married 52 wonderful years and she was always by his side She coached softball, volleyball, was a Girl Scout leader, swimmer, and bowler. She was loved by all her family and many wonderful friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. Irene spent most of her life in Memphis, TN, but always liked to say she had 12 wonderful years in Oklahoma City. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for many years. Memorial contributions may be made to her church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, September 1 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar, with Rosary at 6 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am. Tuesday, September 2 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
