Dorothy King Black, 78, died Sunday, January 17, 1999 in an Abilene, Texas hospital. Services were held Wednesday, January 20 at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church in Albany, Texas with the Rev. Alec Ream officiating. Burial was in Albany Cemetery under the direction of Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.
Mrs. Black was born December 8, 1920 in Albany and was a graduate of Albany High School. She was a realtor and worked as secretary for the Albany Chamber of Commerce in 1990 and 1991. She was a member of Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church, an active docent of the Old Jail Art Center, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include one niece, Sandra Kay Shaner; and one cousin, Marianne Harris Anderson. She was preceded in death by her son, Gene R. Savage, in 1989.
Pallbearers were Jim Leech, John Bray, Gerry Cates, Rodney Casey, Watt M. Casey, and Pat Kelly.
