She was born Feb. 20, 1921, in the Town of Barton to the late Michael and Gertrude (nee Van Beek) Sauer and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Barton.
On June 20, 1942, she married Carl E. Beck at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend. He preceded her in death in 1999. The couple farmed the family farm in West Bend until 1948, when they moved to the Adell area and continued farming.
In 1965, they built a home on a 40-acre wooded section of land, where Dorothy lived until moving to Random Lake in 2001.
Dorothy worked at Tecumseh Products in Sheboygan Falls, retiring along with her husband in 1983.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Adell since 1948 and served with the Christian Women’s Organization.
After her retirement, Dorothy led an active lifestyle, visiting her children and spoiling her family with her cooking and baking.
Survivors include three sons Ralph (Jean) of Grafton, Jerry (Janet) of Random Lake and Ron (Linda) of Kewaskum; four daughters Karen (Bill) Breitzman of Campbellsport, Joanne (Larry) Herzberg and Diane (Dale) Goschey, both of Random Lake and Mary (Bob) Andrew of Sun Prairie; 11 granddaughters; nine grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister Agnes Gundrum of Allenton; one brother Art (Annabelle) Sauer of Thorp; two sisters-in-law Margaret Schrauth of Chico, Calif. and Malinda Beck of West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
