Years later, in 2009, Aline was instrumental, with her good friend, Pearl Wilson, in the restoring of the Old School which was the original 1887 Immanuel Church. Her favorite hobby was raising African violets, and she developed several new varieties. She loved growing all kinds of flowers and loved gardening. She also loved to travel throughout the United States with Bill, and later with her daughter, Nelma, and had many happy vacations in Florida. She also loved her many cats. She enjoyed keeping in touch with many, many relatives and friends with hundreds of greeting cards and letters, as well as e-mail. Aline never forgot a birthday.
Aline served her Lord by making quilts for missions for many years. At Immanuel, she was in charge of collection, sorting, and mailing labels for Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown for 30 years.
