Funeral services for Margaret (Marge) Boeke were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 25, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Cresco. The Rev. Gary Lee, pastor of First Lutheran Church, officiated with interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She died May 22, 1990, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN, of a massive heart attack.

Neva Margaret Boeke, daughter of Henry and Emma Jean Sater, was born July 20, 1912, in Birmingham, Al. Her parents were in vaudeville and traveled with a circus. As a very young girl, Margaret went to live with her grandmother, Margaret Campell, in Hubbard, IA.

Margaret graduated from Hubbard High School in 1930. She attended Ellsworth Junior College to study music. Marge was an accomplished organist and pianist.

On July 3, 1932, she married Martin Boeke at the Zion Evangelical Church in Hubbard with the Rev. Eric Bizer officiating. They were the parents of one son, Gary.

Martin graduated from pharmacy college and the couple started business in Steamboat Rock. After five years they purchased a pharmacy in Wellsburg, where they lived for 29 years. In 1964 the couple moved to Cresco to help their son in the Boeke Pharmacy.

Marge was active in the First Congregational United Church of Christ, PEO Sisterhood, Order of Eastern Star and was a member of Friends in Council for many years.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Martin; son, Gary, both of Cresco; four grandsons and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother.
