Gaffney, S.C. - Mary Jean Sarratt Parris, 82, of 1339 Overbrook Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Samuel Webb Parris and was the daughter of the late Albert and Blanche Harmon Sarratt.

Mrs. Parris was a graduate of Gaffney High School, was formerly employed by Southern Bell, Gaffney Manufacturing and Hoechst Celanese, and retired from Community Cash.

Mrs. Parris loved to work and was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Surviving is a son, Sam Parris and wife, Anna, of Gaffney; two brothers, Herbert Sarratt and Bill Sarratt and wife, Sadie, all of Gaffney; two sisters, Peggy Horne and Brenda Owensby and husband, Mike, all of Spartanburg; two grandchildren, R. J. Parris and wife, Liz, of Milton, Vermont, and Katie Turner and husband, William, of Boiling Springs, S.C.; three great-grandchildren, Michaela Parris, Sam Parris and Ashlyn Parris. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Blackwood, Blanche Bagwell and Alberta Blackwood.

The family will receive friends anytime on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the residence, 1339 Overbrook Drive.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Rev. Johnny Bridges and Dr. Danny Emory officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Central Baptist Church, "Building Fund", P.O. Box 8005, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.

The family will be at the residence, 1339 Overbrook Drive, Gaffney.
