Mrs. Elizabeth Burk was born in Wayne County, Kentucky, on December 9, 1847, and died in Grinnell at the age of 77 years, one month, and 18 days. In 1877 she was married to James S. Burk of Wayne County, Kentucky. In 1890 the family moved to Kellogg where they resided until the death of Mr. Burk in 1905.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. G.G. Leins of Grinnell, a son, Mr. Polk Burk of New York City, and two grandchildren, Rex Leins and Gael Burk, both of Grinnell.

Mrs. Burk was a member of the Christian church and of the Eastern Star. She was a patient and kind hearted woman, and while the course of her life was cast in humble ways, the world is better and brighter because of the influence upon it of this gentle and friendly spirit.

Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon from the Snyder chapel with Rev. W. B. Wilson in charge. Burial was made in Hazelwood.
