He was a member of First Baptist Church in Garner. A retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer and served in the Korean War and also in the Vietnam War. As a civilian he retired as a food inspector for the USDA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Jane Sanders; one granddaughter, Sonya Marie Pruitt.
He is survived by his second wife, Betty of Beebe and her six children; two sons, Mac Sanders (Rita) of Biloxi, Mississippi and Sam Sanders (Tammy) of Beebe, Arkansas; two daughters, Marianne Pruitt (Joel) of McRae, Arkansas and Connie Harris (John) of Ward, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, Christie, Mistie, Joey, Audra, Courtney, Sheryl, Megan, Dylan, Chelsea, Jonathan and Michael; and seventeen great grandchildren; one special sister, Lanelle Luzzi; two sister in-laws, Patsy Moffitt (Clayton) and Francis Gabe; one brother in-law, Charles Gabe (Betty).
Visitation will be Sunday, August 25th from 4-6 p.m. at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 26th at Searcy-McEuen Chapel with burial following at Antioch Cemetery.
