Catherine Sanders Adams was born February 16, 1918, in Ann Arbor MI and died July 19, 2000 in Oklahoma City OK. She was the daughter of Henry Arthur and Charlotte Poynor Sanders. She was educated in Ann Arbor MI and Poggia Imperiale in Florence, Italy. She received a BA from Bryn Mawr and a MA, from the University of Michigan.
During the war, while her husband was at sea, she worked as a laboratory technician with Dr Kahn searching for a test to detect malaria. After the war, she taught French and Latin in Annapolis, Maryland, where her husband taught at the United States Naval Academy. She and her husband, Henry had 17 wonderful years in St Petersburg FL before moving to Oklahoma City in September of 1999. They were married 57 years.
Catherine is survived by her husband, Henry, of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Robin Hartmann and husband, Jim of Edmond OK; her son, Henry Arthur Sanders Adams and wife, Mary Jo of Carlock IL; her grandson, Eric Hartmann of Victoria TX, granddaughters, Dr. Diane Scheuer and husband, Peter of Wilmington NC, and Nancy Parker and husband, Travis of Largo FL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Academy of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College in St Petersburg FL or All Souls Episcopal Church, Oklahoma City. Services are 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 22, 2000 at All Souls Episcopal Church Chapel with interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
