Frances Adair Allen, 91, died at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Regency Place in Lafayette.
She was born in Waynetown on Oct. 12, 1916, to George and Lucille Johnson Sanders. She was a life resident of Montgomery County and attended Waynetown schools.
She married Cliston H. Allen in 1935 in Rockville, and they lived in the Elmdale-Wingate community for 53 years. After her husband's death in 1988 she lived in Crawfordsville.
She was a 30-year retiree of RR Donnelley Co. of Crawfordsville.
Mrs. was a member of the Methodist Church and a life member of Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include sons, C. Edward Allen (wife: Marilyn) of Crawfordsville and James D. Allen (wife: JoAnn) of Lafayette.
The service for Frances Allen will be at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, with Minister Larry Delks officiating. Visitation will be 12-2 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Waynetown. Also surviving are grandchildren, Brad Allen, Cynthia Roberts, Pamela Stephens, Sally Delks, Curtis Allen, Kelly Cain, Jeffrey Allen, Joseph Allen; great-grandchildren, Heidi Bonwell, Brandon Allen, Megan Roberts Shaw, Haley Roberts, Chadd Cassida, Candice Cox, Casey Delks, Tyler Delks, Micah Delks, Whitney Delks, Chloie Cain, Abraham Cain, Noah Allen, Robin Johnson, Toni Price, Brae Allen and Sydney Allen; great-great-grandchildren, Kennedy Bonwell, Claire Bonwell, Nolan Allen, Emery Allen, Frances Shaw, Violet Shaw, Brandon Boller, Chase Cassida, Cali Cassida, Conner Cox, Caleb Cox and Caroline Cox; and five nieces and seven nephews. Two sisters, Alberta Harwood and Virginia Harper, are deceased. Her mother passed away at an early age and she was reared by her grandparents, Albert and Sara Eskew Johnson Harlan. Mrs. Allen enjoyed receiving and taking pictures of her large family and friends; she kept nearly all of the various types of greeting cards she received over the past 73 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and extremely proud of her 12 fifth-generation great-great-grandchildren.
