Louise S. Bacon
Louise S. Bacon, 96, of Pineville, North Carolina passed away quietly on March 27, 2011. She was born in Hoxie, Arkansas on April 18, 1914, one of seven children born to Thomas Jefferson Sanders and Anna May Turner Sanders. She is predeceased by four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis B. Copley and her husband Bill of Pineville, North Carolina, her brother Robert W. Sanders and his wife Betty of Williams Bay, Wisconsin, her grandson Chad W. Summerford of Charlotte, North Carolina as well as several nieces and nephews.
Louise had lived with her daughter in Pineville for the last 10 years and attended the Church of Christ at Gold Hill Road in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Before moving to Pineville she lived 44 years in Albany, Georgia. Her husband, the late William A. Bacon, died there in 1985. She attended the Dawson Road Church of Christ, where she taught bible school for many years and served as coordinator for the emergency teams providing benevolent assistance to those in need.
During World War II, while her husband was overseas, Louise worked as a secretary at the POW Camp in Como, Mississippi, which later became a federal prison. After the war she was secretary and bookkeeper for the business she and her husband owned.
Louise was a great friend to all who knew her, as well as a loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed. She will return home to Albany, Georgia to be buried beside her husband at Floral Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. The funeral service will also be at Kimbrell-Stern on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Church of Christ at Gold Hill Road in Fort Mill, South Carolina or Dawson Road Church of Christ in Albany, Georgia.
