Dola Williams, age 101 of Breckenridge, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 23rd, at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Griffith officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m., in the Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, July 22nd, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Dola Isabell Sanders was born on June 10, 1909 in Bastrop County, Texas to parents, James Simion Sanders and Sallie Josephine Way Sanders. She grew up across the state of Texas.

Dola married Richard Lee Williams on June 22, 1928 in Benjamin, Texas. In 1931, they moved to Breckenridge and later to Arizona.

Dola later married David Peyton Griffith on October 19, 1940 in Breckenridge, Texas. Mr. Griffith preceded her in death on October 20, 1981.

In 1985, Dola returned to Breckenridge where she remarried Mr. Williams, who later preceded her in death on December 30, 1988.

A dedicated homemaker, Dola was a loving mother to four children. A very talented lady, Dola crocheted and sewed and had a wonderful singing voice, which she loved to used while entertaining her many grandchildren. Dola enjoyed writing poetry and she was considered the family historian. She was a member of the People's Church in Breckenridge, as well as a member of the VFW Post 7767 Ladies Auxiliary.

Dola was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one son, David Griffith; two daughters, Jessie Hodges and Joy Johnson; three brothers, George Sanders, Herbert Sanders and Earl Sanders; five sisters, Ammie Newton, Mamie Patterson, Leta Mae Williams, Jewel Williams and Sarah Sanders; one grandson, Ronnie McCullough Sr.; one great grandson, Ronnie McCullough Jr.; two great granddaughters, Beth McCullough and Brittany Brewster; and three sons-in-law, Arnold McCullough, Wayne Hodges and Charlie Johnson.

Dola is survived by one son, Don Griffith and wife, Patsy of Cisco; two daughters, Faye McCullough and Carol Sue Skidmore and husband, Skip, all of Breckenridge; one brother, J.W. Sanders and wife, Jane of Sweetwater; two sisters, Elva Williams of Weatherford and Oma Farris of Breckenridge; twenty-eight grandchildren; seventy-seven great grandchildren; eighty-seven great-great grandchildren; six great-great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces.
