LAVERKIN - Belva Bringhurst Sanders, age 88, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2003 at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah. She was born July 24, 1914 in Toquerville, Utah to Melvina Belle Hammond and Henry Bringhurst. She married Ervil Sanders of LaVerkin, Utah on May 10, 1932 in the St. George Temple. He passed away April 6, 1979.
Belva was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved the gospel. She served faithfully in many church callings throughout her life. In fact, her first concern when she became ill was her church callings. At the time of her death, she was Ward Librarian, Extraction Worker, Relief Society quilt binder, Visiting Teacher and she called and organized weekly Temple trips for the seniors.
She served two missions after her beloved husband passed away. One was the Jackson Mississippi Mission and the other was an extended Church History Mission to Salt Lake City. She loved them both and recently expressed a desire to serve another mission, which we feel she is doing now.
Belva loved to can and worked hard to fill her bottles each summer. She also loved to make quilts and made at least 30 every year for family reunions, new babies, weddings and graduations. She loved beautiful flowers and liked to putter in her garden. She sent birthday cards to all her posterity every year and personalized all of her Christmas cards with loving words. Belva was an amazing woman who was well loved and will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew her.
Surviving family include: six children, Joy (DeVar) Gubler of LaVerkin, Utah, Donna (John) Segler of Hurricane, Utah, Larry (Theresa) Sanders of Ririe, Idaho, Phyllis (Douglas) Pulsipher of Caliente, Nevada, Vickie (Doug) Gubler of La Verkin, Utah and Kim (Brenda) Sanders of Aurora, Utah. She is also survived by heeeer daughter-in-law, Hazel Sanders Hatch of Fredonia, Arizona, 38 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and five great-great- grandchildren; brother, Gordon Bringhurst of Cedar City, Utah; and sister, Ruth Hardy of Sandy, Utah.
