Evelyn Sanders Yarter, 82, of Burton, died Oct. 29, 2005, in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham.

Mrs. Yarter was born April 16, 1923, in Colfax, Washington, to Roy D. and Margurete Pflepson Sanders. She graduated from high school in 1941 in Colfax, Washington and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

On Dec. 18, 1944, she was married to Jacob F. Yarter at Camp Lejune, North Carolina. Mrs. Yarter was a member of Bellaire Presbyterian Church and the Lioness Club of Burton.

Survivors include her husband, Jacob F. Yarter of Burton; sons, Jacob F. Yarter II of Burton and Jimmy Allen Yarter of Dallas; daughter, Jennifer Yarter of Houston; brother, Marion Sanders of Colfax, Washington; sister, Rita Hermann of Melton Freewater, Oregon; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Bob Sanders.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in Memorial Oaks Chapel with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg officiating.

Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.

Pallbearers will be Jay Yarter, Jim Yarter, Andy Yarter, Tim Farmer, Roy Dueitt and Robert Lehmann. Honorary pallbearer will be Lyle Carbaugh.

Memorials may be given to your favorite charity.
