Mary Alice was born on November 2nd,, 1924 to Emil and Effie Harless Sampson. She graduated from the Osceola High School and taught in the rural schools until her marriage to Marven Blair on August 27th, 1945 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
She enjoyed her life as farm wife — and especially did she love the ‘baby' farm animals. When they left the farm they moved for a short time to Kirksville, Missouri and then came to Osceola where they purchased a home. Mary and Marven were residing at the Osceola Nursing and Rehab Center at the time of her death.
Her main hobby was reading and she spent significant time in her life writing stories and poems, many of which were published. In her youth she loved fairy tales and stories of royalty.
She was the glue that held the family together. She was baptized in the First Christian Church as a youth and was a member of the Church of Christ in Murray, Iowa.
She leaves at her passing, her husband Marven and three children, David Lee of Creston (wife Jean), Daniel Ray of Lebanon, Ohio(wife Ronda), and Debra Lynn of Osceola, five grandchildren, Shana, Slade, Dana and Aubrie Blair, Kelly McCrone (husband Allen), one great grandchild, Aiden McCrone, four sisters, Wilma Kentner of Osceola, Margret Hines and Marjory Liggitt both of Indianola and Vesta Emary of Osceola (husband Jim) as well as other relatives and friends.
