Edna was the daughter of John Walker and Eula T. Langham Sammons. Her parents are buried in New Addition in Palestine City Cemetery. She shares a stone with her husband, Joe Whitfield Jenkins.
OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Monday, 24 July 1979:
Mrs. Edna Mae (J.W) Jenkins, 82, formerly of Elkhart, died Sunday night in the Highland Pines Nursing Home, Longview.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Elkhart First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert H. Moran officiating. Burial is to be in Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
A native of Palestine, Mrs. Jenkins made her home in Elkhart for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church there.
Her husband, J. W. Jenkins, died Dec. 9, 1968.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. T. W. Brunson (Joan) of Longview; a brother, Leslie Sammons of Houma, La.; a sister, Mrs. Grace McDonald of Marshall; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
