She was born September 10, 1926, in East Mountain, to Howard and Nellie Sanders Salter. She was a member of the East Mountain Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Leith worked as a bookkeeper for Federated Stores from its opening in Longview until it was sold to Dillard's. Following that, she worked for Gibson's as a bookkeeper and then spent 15 years working for the city of Longview, retiring from there in 2008. She was a member of the Ladies Industrial Bowling League for many years.
Mrs. Leith is survived by her sisters, Daisy L. Binford of Longview, Ethelene Leith of Texarkana and Hazel Wood of Graford. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, who lovingly considered their Aunt Bet a second mother, and she also leaves a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her parents, Howard and Nellie Salter; two brothers, Robert and Joel Salter; and sister, Gladys Nation.
