Bozeman, Aug 29 – Charles Sales, for many years one of the most prominent residents of the Gallatin Valley, died in Los Angeles last Saturday evening after a brief illness. The body will be brought here for burial. Four children survive him, Mrs. George Mills of Gage, Mont, Walter H. Sales, receiver of the United States land office in Bozeman, Allan Sales, sheriff of Gallatin County, Reno Sales, geologist for the Amalgamated Copper Company, with headquarters at Butte.

Mr. Sales came with his family to the Gallatin Valley in 1881 and lived here until about 1905. His first wife died in 1898 and he married again a few years later. His second wife died only a few months ago.

Mr. Sales was one of the most respected and successful ranchmen in the valley and was honored by his party with a nomination for the legislature. His death, though he was almost 80 years of age, came very suddenly. The announcement was received there with profound regret.
