Pansy "Pearl" Sales, age 95, of Numa, Iowa, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at Centerville Care & Rehab Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of John Wesley and Gertrude (Matherly)Matherly on January 7, 1908 in Exline, IA. She received her education in a rural Appanoose School near Exline, Iowa.
Pearl was united in marriage to Paul John Ewing Sales on June 4, 1927 in Corydon, Iowa. She was a homemaker and a maid at the Continental Hotel in Centerville. She was a member of the Trinity Faith Centre in Promise City, Iowa.
Pearl was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Paul on January 12, 1984; 2 infants and a son, Charles Sales; 4 sisters, Lula Davis, Blanche Houser, Vera Jones and Edna; 2 grandsons, John and Bobby Sales; 3 brothers, Winifred, Fay and Howard Matherly.
Surviving family members are: 7 sons, Ira Lee Sales and his wife, Helen of Milan, Illinois, Claude Sales and his wife, Marie of Orion, Illinois, Jim Sales and his wife, Carol of Centerville, Iowa, Bill Sales of Numa, Iowa, Ronald Sales, Donald Sales and his wife, Burneta both of Cincinnati, Iowa and Larry Sales and his wife, Donna of Numa, IA; daughter, Pauline Wignall of Sullivan, Iowa; 2 sisters, Violet Benz of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Geraldine Skipper of Unionville, Missouri; 32 grandchildren; 68 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2003 at 11pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Jim Mastin of Trinity Faith Centre officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ararat Cemetery east of Centerville.
Visitation will be held from 1-8pm, Wednesday, October 22, 2003 with the family present from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Centerville Nursing Rehab Activity Fund.
