Barbara, a native of Las Vegas New Mexico; passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She was predeceased by father Perry Salazar; grandson Shem-Vela-Montoya; mother & father-in law Nemesina and Celso Montoya; nephews: Robert and Gerald Salazar; and aunt Antonia Tafoya.

Barbara was survived by her mother Lena T. Salazar; husband James J. Montoya of the family home in Las Vegas, New Mexico; daughter Donna Casey (husband Steve Casey) of Phoenix, Arizona; sons: James G Montoya (girlfriend Yvonne Piņa) and Perry R. Montoya (girlfriend Karla Ulibarri-Boyle), and adopted son Robert McHenry, all of Las Vegas; grandchildren: Cruevan Macias of Leonardwood, Missouri; Trey Casey, Brandt Casey, Bryan Casey all of Phoenix, Arizona; Kassandra Tapia, Tristan Montoya and Haley Montoya all of Albuquerque; brothers: Rick Salazar (wife Elaine), Barney Salazar of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law: Marylou Dominguez of Tucumcari, Ethel Montoya, and Helen Salazar (husband Acasio) all of Cuba, New Mexico; brother-in-law Celso Montoya (wife Adelina) of Nogales, Arizona; Aunt Fran Lisenbee of Albuquerque; close family friends: Fabby Roybal, Naomi Martinez, Isiah Roybal (wife Angela), Ezra Roybal, Roseanne and Bobby Ortiz, Pauline and Gabe Trujillo, Joseph Gonzales, Kathy and Tim Ha, Linda, Crystal, and David Montoya, Katie Sandoval, Jamesha Chavez, and Janie and Pablo Vigil, and so many more.

Barbara was a loving and devoted wife and married 44 years to the love of her life James Montoya on November 12, 1967. She was employed by Prince, Schmidt, Korte & Baca Law firm where she was a dedicated employee for the past 25 years. She was a true example of God's special love. She let wisdom flow from her mouth, compassion flow from her heart, acts of kindness flow from her arms, and faith flow from her soul. She was a unique gift from God and always devoted herself to loving others. Our precious wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend will live in our hearts forever and will be missed beyond measure! Rest in paradise our beautiful Barbara.

Visitation was at Rogers Chapel on June 5, 2011. A Rosary and devotional services were on June 6, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church. Funeral Services were on June 7, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church. Pallbearers: James G. Montoya, Perry Montoya, Isiah Roybal, Ezra Roybal, Cruevan Macias, and Roderick Lujan, David Montoya, and Joseph Gonzales. Her cremains were interred in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
