Funeral mass for former Lawton resident, Rita Collins, 65, of Dallas, Texas will be at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Kirk Larkin, pastor officiating.
Mrs. Collins died on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in Dallas, Texas. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum. A wake will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2007 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Herman Lawrence officiating.
Mrs. Collins was born on July 25, 1942 in Waco, Texas to Viviano and Faye (Campos) Salas. She moved to Lawton with her family when she was a small child. Rita graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School. Her family owned and operated Salas' Little Mexico Restaurant where she worked as a small child until after she was married.
She married Edward Collins on August 5, 1967 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After they married, Rita and Edward moved to Detroit for two years before returning to Lawton, where she continued to work at Salas' Little Mexico until the 1980s. They then moved to Missouri for 3 years and finally to Dallas, Texas where they resided and Mrs. Collins began working as the Customer Service Agent for Greyhound Bus Line Corporation office in 1996 and worked there until her death. Mrs. Collins was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Happy Hilltopper Round Dance Club of Lawton.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; her mother, Faye Salas; two sons and a daughters in law; Craig Steven Collins and his wife Ashley of Carrolton, Texas and David Christopher Collins of Springfield, Missouri; on sister and brother in law, Lou Marsh and her husband, David, of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren; Caleigh Brittany Collins, Taylor Faye Collins, and Tyler Steven Collins all of Carrollton, Texas; and three nieces: Suzanne Faye Crim, of Dallas, Texas; Catherine Michael Gonzales of Atlanta, Georgia; Kelsey Lynn Marsh of Dallas, Texas and numerous aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her father.
